Where your data lives
TeachCentive is hosted entirely on Microsoft Azure, the same cloud infrastructure trusted by school districts, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies nationwide. Your district's data is never stored on personal devices, shared drives, or third-party servers outside this environment.
Your data stays yours
TeachCentive does not sell, share, or repurpose your district's data for any reason outside the services outlined in your signed agreement. Your data is used only to operate the platform and deliver the specific services your district has contracted for, nothing more.
Role-based access, built in from the start
Every user sees only what their role allows. Teachers see their own data. Campus administrators see their own campus. District administrators see the full district. This isn't a setting someone has to turn on, it's how the platform is built.
Single sign-on, no new passwords to manage
TeachCentive integrates directly with your district's existing sign-on system. TeachCentive never stores or has access to your district's passwords, and your IT team doesn't need to create or manage a separate set of logins.
TeachCentive Smart Analyst and AI
TeachCentive Smart Analyst runs entirely within TeachCentive's secure Microsoft Azure environment, using Microsoft's enterprise AI infrastructure rather than a public or consumer AI tool.
Your data is never used to train any AI model. Not TeachCentive's, not Microsoft's, not any other company's.
Nothing you ask, or any data behind the answer, is shared outside your district's own account.
AI features are available only where a district has specifically agreed to them as part of their service agreement, not turned on automatically.
A signed agreement for every district
Every district that uses TeachCentive works under a Data Sharing Agreement that spells out, in plain language, exactly what data is collected, how it's used, how long it's retained, and what happens to it if the agreement ends. Nothing about how your data is handled is left to a privacy policy alone, it's a signed, binding commitment.
Is TeachCentive FERPA compliant?
No vendor can be "FERPA certified," that isn't a real certification, and any vendor that claims otherwise isn't being accurate. FERPA obligations belong to your district, not to TeachCentive. What TeachCentive provides is the contractual and technical structure your district needs to use the platform within its own FERPA obligations, including a signed Data Sharing Agreement and a defined role as a service provider acting on your district's behalf.
Where exactly is our data stored?
Within Microsoft Azure, in a defined U.S. region. Your data does not move outside that environment as part of normal platform operation.
Does TeachCentive access our data for any reason other than providing the service?
No. Data is used only to operate the applications and features your district has agreed to.
What happens to our data if we stop working with TeachCentive?
Your Data Sharing Agreement specifies a defined retention period tied to the end of your contract, after which your data is removed. You'll always know in advance what that timeline is.
Can our IT team review your security practices before we sign anything?
Yes. We're glad to walk your team through our hosting, security, and data-handling practices as part of your district's own vetting process.
Do you require a signed agreement before any of our data is used?
Yes, always. No district data is accessed or processed until a Data Sharing Agreement is in place.
